"He pulled his short-bladed knife out of his ankle sheath and put it close to her face. Before he could strike, Memphis put both of her feet against his chest and heaved as hard as she could, smashing him into a lamp. The impact knocked the shade off and shattered the bulb, leaving jagged edges of glass-the sharp points sliced quickly into Kleryk's bald head. She stood and ran out of the cabin, hearing Kleryk's angry screams of pain behind her. Just short of the trees, he caught her, grabbing her throat and squeezing savagely until she couldn't breathe. . . ."
Heartbroken and ready for a new start, Memphis Jones moves to Houston with a new job, new apartment, and every plan to forget Bret Jesse. Bret Jesse thinks breaking up with Memphis will give him space to date other women-until she leaves and he doesn't want anyone else. Almost two years later, they meet unexpectedly. Bret wants her back in his life, but Memphis won't let him back in her heart, even though his warm kiss nearly melts her resolve. Hours later, Memphis can't get Bret or his kiss out of her mind, when a killer kidnaps her and forces her to help him embezzle millions of dollars. Bret goes after her, only to become the target of the kidnapper's rage. Now it's up to Memphis to save them both before the killer claims his next victim.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Having grown up in a family of girls, Juliet G. Sanders is well acquainted
with romantic suspense stories. After getting her Bachelors degree in
English from Brigham Young University, Ms. Sanders once caught herself
mentally rewriting a disappointing book. She resolved to write a better
story, thinking, "How hard can it be?" Little did she know that being a
wife, mother of four, and a homemaker would all make the writing process
slow and complicated. A lot of determination and several babysitters
later, Ms. Sanders has finished writing her first romantic suspense novel,
and is busy at work on her next book.
